Language is one of the key areas that can help improve a child’s communication abilities, and hence alter the conditions of their life. If a child can express how they feel, they can let others know what they need and desire.
Language is also a fundamental method used to break down barriers in villages and countries, as a common language can help people to communicate. This communication can lead to people working in harmony with each other for the hope of a greater good.
The WCO believes that language is a vital part of a child’s development, because without it a child can grow up to be illiterate, closed off from the community, and unable to make changes in their own life. That’s why we run various projects in underprivileged towns that focus on language development and language labs.
Language labs are designed to help children with various skills, including:
- linguistics
- cognitive abilities
- language acquisition
- and communication skills
At the WCO we focus our efforts on teaching and improving basic speech, syntax, and semantics.
In addition to this, we feel that every child should also be helped to develop their:
- thinking
- reasoning
- remembering
- imagining
- and learning skills
These things are essential to the growth and development of a child into an adult. Without these skills, a child can become trapped in a rut of poverty, with no means to help themselves out of it.
